A Better Way to Board
Our Horse Boarding Philosophy
At Darly Oaks Equestrian, horse boarding is built around a simple idea: good horse care, a supportive barn community, and a routine that works for both horses and their owners.
We operate as a cooperative horse boarding facility, which allows our boarders to have more flexibility in their horse’s feeding program while sharing certain daily responsibilities as a barn community.
Each boarder purchases their own feed, hay, and shavings, so every horse can stay on the diet and feeding program that works best for them.
Boarders are responsible for cleaning their own stalls, while daily feeding and turnout responsibilities are shared through a rotating schedule.
Shared Daily Horse Care
Each feeding shift includes:
- Feeding grain
- Providing hay
- Refreshing water
- Turning horses out or bringing them in
One person handles each feeding shift, allowing all of the horses to be cared for at the same time. This creates a calm, consistent routine throughout the barn and helps keep the daily workload manageable for everyone.
Feeding shifts are divided as fairly as possible among boarders, with everyone contributing to the care of the barn and its horses.
It’s a cooperative approach to horse boarding—but one designed to keep things simple, organized, and focused on the horses.
Flexible Stall Cleaning
We understand that life doesn’t always cooperate with your barn schedule.
A trusted barn helper is on-site each morning and is available to clean stalls for boarders who aren’t able to make it out that day. Arrangements and payment are made directly with him, giving boarders a convenient option when work, travel, or other commitments get in the way.
Evening Horse Care
Because the barn owners live on the property, every horse receives an evening check at approximately 8:00 PM.
During the evening check, we:
- Walk through the barn to make sure every horse is safe and comfortable
- Check water buckets
- Provide additional hay upon request
Having someone living on-site provides an added level of attention and peace of mind. While cooperative boarding means boarders share in the daily responsibilities, you also know that someone is nearby to keep an eye on the barn and its horses.
